Project Description

A 7-page academy site built to put Professor James Boran's 26 years and 6th-degree black belt credentials front and center, with a custom free-trial booking form that replaces a paid third-party plugin entirely.

The Showcase

Credentials first, friction never.

Every page carries Professor Boran's 26 years and 6th-degree black belt without slowing down the path to a booked free trial class.

PAGE 01

A program for every student, one hover away

The nav's Programs mega-menu surfaces all 5 classes — Gi, No-Gi, Kids (4-7 and 8-15), and Private Lessons — with a free-trial callout alongside, so a visitor finds their fit before they even land on a page.

Challenge & Solution

Challenge & Solution

The Challenge

Boran Jiu-Jitsu had 26 years of credibility — Professor James Boran is a 6th-degree black belt and one of the first twelve Americans ever to earn a BJJ black belt — but no site that communicated any of it. The academy also needed a way to book free trial classes without paying for a recurring third-party booking subscription.

The Solution

We built a 7-page static Astro site (Home, About, Programs/Classes, Schedule & Free Trial, Pricing, Media, Contact) designed to put the instructor's credentials front and center from the first scroll. In place of a paid booking plugin, we built a custom free-trial request form that reads the published class schedule, then automatically emails a confirmation — with a calendar-add link — to both the student and the academy. A YouTube-only media page keeps class and testimonial videos without any self-hosted video cost.

The Results

7 pages Home, About, Programs, Schedule, Pricing, Media, Contact
$0 Recurring cost added by the custom free-trial booking form
26 years Instructor's credentials built into the homepage, not buried on an About page

Our Process

How we got there.

Discovery & Credibility Mapping

Reviewed Professor Boran's 26 years running the academy, his 6th-degree black belt, and his place among the first twelve Americans to earn one — then decided what needed to surface immediately versus live on the About page.

Site Architecture

Mapped the 7-page structure — Home, About, Programs/Classes (with a subpage per discipline: Gi, No-Gi, Kids 4-7, Kids 8-15, Private Lessons), Schedule & Free Trial, Pricing, Media, Contact — plus a linked Privacy Policy page.

Custom Booking Build

Replaced a paid booking plugin with a static HTML/CSS (Astro) + PHP form: a visitor picks a class from the published schedule, and submission triggers an HTML confirmation email — with a calendar-add link — to both the student and the academy.

SEO & Tracking Foundation

Set up the XML sitemap, Google Search Console, Analytics, and Tag Manager, and added reCAPTCHA/hCaptcha to the contact and free-trial forms before launch.
